
Barbara Sears - Chair
Partner, Strategic Health Care; Former Director, Ohio Department of Medicaid; Former Legislator, Ohio House of Representatives
Ms. Sears is a Partner at Strategic Health Care, a national consulting firm. She previously served as the Director of the Ohio Department of Medicaid and as Assistant Director for the Governor’s Office of Health Transformation. Ms. Sears also represented the 47th District in the Ohio House of Representatives where she held the positions of Majority Floor Leader and Chair of the House Insurance and Joint Medicaid Oversight Committees. She has been honored with over two dozen legislative and lifetime achievement awards. Ms. Sears entered public service in 1997 when she was elected to Sylvania City Council; she has also been an insurance agent for 35 years. Ms. Sears earned a B.S. in Business and an M.H.A. from the University of Phoenix. She resides in Ohio and North Carolina, has two grown sons, and three grandchildren. Ms. Sears is a past member of the Ohio Living Swan Creek local advisory Board.
Sandy Adam - Vice Chair & Assistant Treasurer
Senior Vice President of Wealth Management, Merrill Lynch
Ms. Adam is Senior Vice President, CFP® with Merrill Lynch. She was recently named to Forbes “Best-in-State Wealth Advisors” list in 2019. She joined Merrill Lynch in 2003, after a rewarding career in philanthropy at the American Red Cross & Toledo Museum of Art. Ms. Adam is an alum of Notre Dame Academy & a graduate of the University of Toledo & Heidelberg College, where she earned an MBA. She resides in Perrysburg with her husband Paul, a Toledo Firefighter. They enjoy boating and traveling and are planning a trip to Greece for their 20th anniversary. Ms. Adam also enjoys tap dancing as a member of the Manhattan Dance Company. Ms. Adam previously served on the Investment Committee and the Ohio Living Foundation Board. Additionally, her grandfather is a resident at Ohio Living Swan Creek where Ms. Adam worked throughout her undergraduate college years.


Kevin L. Futryk - Assistant Secretary
Partner, Government Advantage Group, LLP
Mr. Futryk is a founding partner of Government Advantage Group, LLP, a full service lobbying firm with offices in downtown Columbus, and has been an independent lobbyist since 1984. Mr. Futryk has spent his entire professional life in government, beginning with his election to the Seven Hills City Council in 1977 at the age of nineteen, continuing through serving on several municipal boards and commissions over the ensuing years.
Mr. Futryk is a past board member and President of the Ohio Lobbying Association, where he is a three-time recipient of the OLA’s President’s Award for Outstanding Service to the lobbying profession. Mr. Futryk is a Resting Elder at Liberty Presbyterian Church but remains active in several committees and leadership positions. Mr. Futryk is a board member, and past President of Habitat for Humanity of Delaware & Union Counties, and has helped lead over 20 walls builds at his church for HFH. Mr. Futryk holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration/finance. Mr. Futryk resides in Powell, Ohio with his wife and daughter, and has an adult son who resides in New Bremen, Ohio.
Donald E. Edwards
Administrator, Wayne Township
Born and raised in Waynesville, Mr. Edwards has served his community for over 34 years, ten as the Administrator for Wayne Township and 24 as an elected Township Trustee. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Directors for Quaker Heights Care Community for the past 17 years. Mr. Edwards began pursuing a Political Science degree from Wright State University before deciding to choose a career path as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Following a disabling injury, he chose a path of public service and became involved in many civic organizations. His wife of almost 40 years, Barbara, is a retired school teacher who also operated her own private home health care agency. Mr. Edwards enjoys spending time with his daughter and two grandsons who also live in Waynesville.


Paul Flannery

Mr. Flannery is a highly experienced and talented trial attorney. He is a former federal prosecutor and is the co-founder/partner at Flannery | Georgalis, LLC. Mr. Flannery has successfully handled a wide array of criminal cases ranging from complex fraud and public corruption matters to violent crimes. He has also successfully represented individuals and organizations in complex business disputes, including professional malpractice, corporate fiduciary duties, and real estate.
Before forming Flannery | Georgalis, LLC, Mr. Flannery served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Ohio and in private practice at a prestigious law firm in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mr. Flannery is a graduate of John Carroll University (majoring in Economics and Foreign Affairs) and Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He resides in Gates Mills with his wife Lisa and two young children, where they are members of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Richard J. Frenchie
Strategic Consultant and Retired Hospital Chief Executive Officer
Rich is currently engaged as a strategic consultant and advisor featuring planning, leadership excellence, development and philanthropy. He gives back to his community by serving on non-profit and corporate boards in leadership and strategic positions while providing mentorship to rising leaders. He currently serves on the following boards: Kent State University, Kent State University National Alumni Association, Arthritis Foundation, Geauga Growth Partnership and the Ohio Living Foundation.
Rich earned a BBA from Cleveland State University. He also attended Case Western Reserve University and Baldwin Wallace University receiving an MBA. Additionally, Rich completed a Fellowship for Leadership Excellence at the University of Michigan.


Laurence C. Gumina
Ohio Living Chief Executive Officer
Laurence C. Gumina serves as CEO of Ohio Living, ranked as LeadingAge Ziegler’s 18th largest not-for-profit, multi-site senior living organization in the nation. He leads the company’s growth strategy that takes advantage of changes in the regulatory/reimbursement environment and responds to increasing demands for services in high-growth areas throughout Ohio. Gumina uses his more than three decades of experience in both the hospital and aging services industries to anchor relationships between healthcare providers, hospitals, insurers and others in order to streamline and advance aging services at the community level.
He currently serves on the boards of LeadingAge, LeadingAge Ohio, Link-Age, and the Presbyterian Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (PAHSA). Gumina holds a Master of Public Administration in health care administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Melissa Ingwersen
Retired, President of Key Bank Central Ohio Region
Ms. Ingwersen has over 40 years’ experience in the banking industry, with expertise in commercial lending and strategic planning. She recently retired after ten years as President of Key Bank’s Central Ohio District. She also held several leadership positions with JPMorgan Chase and National City (now PNC). Ms. Ingwersen is a graduate of Northwestern University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies.
She is a Columbus native and is an active and committed community volunteer, serving on numerous boards, including Franklin University, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, and the YWCA of Columbus. Ms. Ingwersen is a champion of community-wide initiatives and her efforts have been recognized with various awards, including “40 Under 40” and a member of the Leadership Columbus Hall of Fame.


James Joyce
Retired, Chairman and President/CEO, H.R. Gray
Mr. Joyce has more than 35 years of experience in the engineering, construction and facilities management industries. Mr. Joyce started his career at H.R. Gray in 1999 as Vice President working with the Founder and CEO, Harold R. Gray. In 2004 and extending until 2017, Mr. Joyce was the President and CEO of H.R. Gray. In addition to business development and client management responsibilities, he also served on a variety of industry boards and commissions, including Chair of the Ohio Water Development Authority and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Council. In 2018, Mr. Joyce transitioned from President and CEO into the Chairman position where he later retired in 2019. Prior to joining H.R. Gray, Mr. Joyce served as head of the Department of Public Utilities for the City of Columbus. In this capacity, he was also the primary point of contact with the U.S. EPA and Ohio EPA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other County, State and Federal regulatory bodies.
Terry White – Resident Director
Retired, CEO of MetroHealth
Mr. White is a retired healthcare executive who previously served as the President/CEO for the MetroHealth System in Cleveland and as an Executive in Residence for the Xavier University Department of Health Services Administration. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Ohio University and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Xavier University. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Mr. White has been involved with the Ohio University Foundation Board and the Ohio University Medical School Advisory Board as well as the Ohio Living Foundation Board. He resides at Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber in Columbus and his hobbies include reading and travel.


Rev. Raafat Zaki – Synod Representative
Hospital Chaplain
Rev. Zaki is a Christian of African and Middle Eastern (MENA) origins. He studied at four higher education institutions located in three continents and was ordained a Minister of the Word and Sacrament by the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. He served three pastoral calls, two offices of the General Assembly (PCUSA), with Habitat for Humanity International as Director of Church Relations and Global Faith Engagement, and with the Synod of the Sun (PCUSA) as Stated Clerk and Associate Synod Executive. Most recently, Rev. Zaki served as a Synod Executive with the Synod of the Covenant. He also served as a volunteer on several boards and committees, including General Assembly committees and the Ohio Council of Churches. Rev. Zaki is a multi/cross-cultural leader who is passionate about church and community transformation. He is married and blessed with three children, and enjoys family, music, sports, reading, and cooking.
